Along with the
management company, Hanover Square also has a board of directors that
supervises operations. Owners choose to serve on the Board for
various reasons, because they want to improve the neighborhood, because they
feel a need to participate, because they want to increase property values,
because they feel no one else will do it or just for the fun of it. Whatever
the reason the Association appreciates their efforts.
The affairs of the Association are governed
by a Board of Directors. The Board has the powers and duties necessary for
the administration for these affairs. The Board of Directors consists of
three (3) members each is elected for a term of three (3) years with one (1)
director position up for election in May of each year.
To be eligible for a position on the Board, you
must own property in the Association and your Association fees must be paid
to date in full. Board members receive no compensation (are not paid) for their service on
the Board.
The principal officers of the Association are
a President, a Secretary, and a Treasurer, all of whom shall be elected by
and from the Board of Directors. The Directors may elect one or more
Vice-Presidents, an Assistant Treasurer, and an Assistant Secretary, and
such other officers as in their judgment may be necessary. The offices of
Treasurer and Secretary shall not by filled by the same person.
The President is the chief executive officer
of the Association. The President presides at all meetings of the
Association and of the Board of Directors. The President has all of the
general powers and duties that are usually vested in the office of a
president of an Association.
The Vice-President shall take the place for
the President and perform his duties whenever the President is absent or
unable to act. If neither the President nor the Vice-President is able to
act, the Board of Directors shall appoint some other member of the Board to
so do on an interim basis. The Vice-President shall also perform such other
duties as shall from time to time be imposed upon him by the Board of
Directors.
The Secretary shall keep or cause to be kept
the minutes of all meetings of the Board of Directors and the minutes of all
meetings of the Association. The Secretary shall have charge of such books
and papers as the Board of Directors may direct and shall, in general,
perform all of the duties incident to the office of Secretary.
The Treasurer shall have responsibility for
Association funds and securities and shall be responsible for keeping or
causing to be kept full and accurate accounts of all receipts and
disbursements in books belonging to the Association. He shall be responsible
for the deposit of all moneys and other valuable effects in the name, and to
the credit of the Association in such depositaries as may from time to time
be designated by the Board of Directors.
CURRENT BOARD OF DIRECTORS
Tom has been a resident of Hanover Square
since 1989. He has been an active member of the community since that time
and has volunteered on the board of Directors since 1996. He has also been
an active part of the neighborhood watch as well as done several hours of
volunteer work on the property.
in 2001 Tom took over as President after the former President moved. This
was the worst possible time to take over as president. In 99 the 7603
building burnt down causing the associations insurance premiums to raise a
significant amount, then in 2001 the fire at 7601 had taken that even
higher! Raising our insurance from about $38,000 a year to over $100,000.
YES ALMOST TRIPLE the cost. Not to mention the ageing buildings and grounds
needing work.
Well since then he and the board have managed to get the insurance down in
the the $60,000 range with hopes of it getting lower soon if no claims are
made. They have planned and executed ALL the roofs on ALL 24 building being
replaced, gotten several lights replaced, new one installed, worked with
village to get 3 new street lights installed on Kingsbury and Bristol, Fixed
pot holes and are in works with village to get all roads in complex redone
completely. Also working on getting yet MORE lighting done as well. New
Street signs have been installed, New signage by entrances, several
sidewalks mud jacked, New drain tile installed and more approved for this
year. Not to mention having several dead or dieing tress removed and FREE
chips for residents with more coming.
All in all the last 6 years started out bad, got worse, but is on a very
strong upward swing now with many exciting things to come.
Tom often goes far above and beyond the call
of duty in the complex. HE has filled pot holes, fixed signs, shoveled snow,
painted curbs, trimmed trees, built and maintained web site, clean out
dumpster corals, parole complex all hours day and night, as well as replaced
EVERY GARAGE LIGHT BULB ( with help from former resident Dave B) at no cost
to the homeowners. He has also saved money by printing, stapling and
delivering the newsletters, that Larry had put together, in the past
himself.
He is a very hands on person. He has even spent his own money to repair the
swings as well as has gone to court on several occasions in behalf of the
association on things from Trespassing to issues to dealing with Horizon
Management.
Some of the things Tom enjoys are improving
the neighborhood, helping others, building
web pages, and acting. Tom has performed on stage in Madison WI,
Milwaukee WI, Chicago IL, Normal IL, Los Angels CA and In Hanover Park! He
has also been in the films "Major League" and "Hoffa" and the soon to be
released in 07 "5-25-77"
| If you see a
Stormtrooper from Star Wars walking around the neighborhood that's Tom as
well. He is a proud member of The 501st
Legion, a Star Wars Imperial Costuming group. They make appearances
at Sci-Fi conventions, Movie openings, and sometimes do Escort Duty for
the actors in the Star Wars films. As a part of the 501st he has also
participated in a few charity events such as visiting children's
hospitals and other fund raising events.

Tom and 7 other members of the Midwest Garrison of the 501st
Stormtrooper legion performed with the band "No Doubt" and were guests
on stage with them at their April 6th show at the Aragon Ballroom in
Chicago.
He and the other troopers were at the Chicago Premiere to Benefit
Children's Charities of the new Star Wars film "Attack of the Clones" on
May 12th at the McClurg Theater and also at the dinner following the
film at the Adler Planetarium. Tickets for this event are $500.00 to
$100,000.00 and all proceeds went to children's Memorial Hospital.
Locally Tom has had a long connection with the village of Hanover
Park.
Former Village President Lou Barone was the Deacon at both his
children's baptisms.
Tom had a very good working relationship with late Hanover Park
President Irv Bock.
And had one on one talks with former Acting Hanover Park President
Robert Packum.
Present Hanover Park President Rod Craig and Tom have know each other
for years, In fact Rod, Tom and Hanover Square Resident Chris D. All
attended, and graduated the Hanover Park Police Academy together in
2000.

There are several ideas Tom has for
the association. The Newsletter and web site are just 2 of them. Be
on the lookout for a lot of new stuff on the horizon.

Secretary / Vice President
Bryna Schmidt |
Bryna
has been an owner and resident at Hanover Square since May of 2004. She has
a Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design. In her spare time she runs her
own Interior design business on the side and is often planning new ways to
decorate and fix up her home. Many may associate Bryna with her fluffy white
dog Otis, who has won the hearts of many surrounding neighbors.
When Bryna
moved in she was new to the condo style living and wanted to learn more
about how things in an association run. She came to meetings, asked
questions and when former board member Denise moved, she was appointed as
board member until the turn ran out and she officially ran for a position on
the board.
She soon
learned there is MUCH MUCH more that goes on in the association then meets
the eye, And learned that you cant judge things from the outside going to
one meeting a year and not reading newsletters or web site. Delinquencies,
insurance, Violations, age or complex, natural occurrences and everyday
expenses all play a part in what does happen and can happen.

Landlord relations
Larry Adrian |
Larry owns several units in Hanover Square
and is a very active member in the association. He has taken charge of not
only designing the newsletters but also will be heading a Landlord Relations
committee in order to help landlords better their screening and help with
other areas concerning landlords relations with both the association and
their tenants.
He, along with Tom, has also spearheaded the
restoration of several documents for the association. Larry is currently
working on the Bi-laws. The original sales papers from 1972 are also being
worked on.
